Mighton Construction Sponsors the 2026 Wasaga Beach Chamber Generational Legacy Business Award

On October 2, 2026, the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce & Tourism held its 2026 Business Awards. Mighton Construction was proud to sponsor the Generational Legacy Business Award, and the winner was Jewel Box in Osborne’s Castle.

Congratulations, Jewel Box in Osborne’s Castle

The Jewel Box has been part of Wasaga Beach since 1945, when the Osborne family opened a five-and-ten store here. Three generations later, the family still runs the shop at 489 River Road West. It’s now a gift shop that holds on to pieces of the earlier stores the family ran along the way.

That’s what the award recognizes: a family business that has stayed in the same town, been handed down and kept serving its neighbours. Certificates of congratulations from the Town of Wasaga Beach, Simcoe-Grey MP Terry Dowdall and Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson were presented alongside the award.

Why we chose to sponsor this award

Mighton Construction is a family company too. We’ve been building in South Georgian Bay since 1992, from our office in Wasaga Beach, and many of our clients come to us because someone in their family used us before. Of all the categories, this is the one that speaks to how we want to run our business.

Businesses like the Jewel Box are part of why Wasaga Beach is a good place to live and build. Supporting the Chamber, and the people who keep local businesses going year after year, is how we give back to the same community that supports us.

A few more things we’re proud of

This isn’t the first time we’ve been part of the Chamber’s awards. In 2025, the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce named us its Trades Business of the Year. Earlier this fall we were also named the 2026 Custom Home Builder of the Year by the South Georgian Bay Building Association.
