Wasaga Beach Town Hall: Gazebo & New Concrete Pad

A timber gazebo rebuilt on a new concrete pad beside the Council Chambers, completed for the Town of Wasaga Beach in November 2023.

Project overview

A community gazebo, rebuilt on a new pad

The Town of Wasaga Beach asked Mighton Construction to move and rebuild the gazebo beside the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 30 Lewis St. We excavated and formed a new 13 ft by 13 ft pad, poured a 5-inch concrete slab on a compacted stone base, took the old 12 ft by 12 ft gazebo apart, and re-framed it on the new pad.

The Town supplied the materials and we reused as much of the original gazebo as was in good condition. Working to a short November window, the pad was formed and poured and the gazebo reassembled within a few weeks, with snow fencing keeping the site safe throughout.

The Town chose to leave the railings off, which makes the gazebo more open and easier for everyone to use. See also our work at the Wasaga Beach Youth Centre, or read about building in Wasaga Beach.

Scope of work

What we did at Town Hall

New 13 ft × 13 ft concrete pad

Excavated and formed beside the Council Chambers, with a compacted stone base and a 5-inch concrete slab.

Careful disassembly

The Town’s existing 12 ft × 12 ft gazebo was taken apart, with debris contained and anything unusable disposed of.

Rebuild on the new pad

The gazebo was re-framed and reassembled on its new pad, reusing as much of the original material as was in good condition, with Town-supplied materials.

Open, rail-free design

The Town chose to leave the railings off so the gazebo is more open and accessible to everyone.

Site protection and restoration

Snow fencing around the work, machinery routed to limit damage to the sod, and the surrounding topsoil raked and graded afterwards.

Reviewed drawings

Built to drawings reviewed by the Town’s Building Department for compliance with the Ontario Building Code.

Our work in the community

Building for the Town of Wasaga Beach

We are a Wasaga Beach company, and we have completed a number of projects for the Town, including this gazebo, a deck and accessible ramp at the Youth Centre, and renovations at the Town Hall and Bylaw Office. Community projects call for clear communication, careful scheduling around public spaces and proper approvals, and we bring the same approach to every home project.
