Do you need a permit to build a deck in Wasaga Beach?
A deck in Wasaga Beach needs a building permit if it is attached to the house, serves as an exit, or is larger than 10 m² (about 108 sq ft). A small freestanding deck under that size may not need one, but zoning setbacks still apply, and a lot near the Nottawasaga River or the beach can also need NVCA clearance before the Town issues a building permit.
Composite and PVC decking adds one step: the Town asks for a recognized product evaluation or a sealed engineering report with the application. Confirm the details with the Town’s Building Department at 705-429-3844 before you build.
We handle the permit process for every deck we build. For the full list of approvals a Wasaga Beach project can trigger, read our Wasaga Beach renovation guide.
